The rules in golf are fairly simple if you already know them, however explaining them could take a while. (...)

The rules in golf are fairly simple if you already know them, however explaining them could take a while. If you are not very familiar with the basics, the first thing you would need to know would be the main objective of the game: you have to hit the ball at the start or at the tee into the hole for every section in the course’s 18 sections or 18 holes.

The hole is located on the green, which is a piece of short and well-maintained grass. Once you are already on the green, you need to use your putter, which is the club that has a slab-like end, instead of your other normal clubs.

Every hole has a specified target number of shots to be done from the tee to the hole. This is called the par. For instance, if you are on a par 5 hole, you would need to get the ball from the tee to the hole in five shots or less. If you were able to do it with exactly the number of shots specified, then your score would be a par. If you did it in one less than the par, your score would be a birdie. If you did it in two less than the par, your score would be an eagle. Three below par would be called an albatross and the best score would be a hole in one, which happens if you were able to get the ball from the tee to the hole in one hit.

On the other hand, if you scored one more than the par then that would be a bogey. Two more than the par would be a double bogey. If you have tried for more that 12 shots, then you forfeit the hole. You would then have to move to the next hole.

Eventually, as you go through the game, there would be various hazards that you would have to deal with. If your ball lands on the rough, which is an area on the course that has long grass, you could find it difficult to move on from that area. There could also be trees on the rough of some courses, which could make them harder to get out of. The worst hazards would be the lakes and the ponds, because if you hit the ball into one, it would cost you the shot you took and another shot as a penalty, which would make it harder to reach par.

As a golfer, one of the most important pieces of equipment that you can own is a putter. As you probably realize, your putter is used more times in one round of golf than any of your other clubs. Knowing how to truly use a putter displays your excellence as a golfer.
After all, if you know how to properly use a putter, then chances are that you are experienced at reading a green, as well as figuring out and controlling the speed and distance of your ball. You may even have the knowledge of how to create a pure roll with your golf ball; but this information is useless if you do not know how to use a putter. Knowing how to use a putter has many, many benefits.
No matter what, one highly important aspect of a putter is its alignment. Even if you read your green to the best of your ability and had a perfect speed and roll with your ball – if the putter was not lined up correctly to make the shot, chances are you won’t make it. Your putter’s alignment means everything in a game. Even if you think that you can read your green to the best of your ability, you may not be able to totally hit the ball with the best speed and roll. Playing this game over and over will show you how to line up the ball to make the shot. You may need to use line, circles, holes, dots, and other features to line yourself up for the shot – but no matter what, with the right putter, it will end up where you want.
What type of putter you choose is completely up to you. Putters are typically chosen based upon a personal preference. Remember that in golf, every person is different. You may choose a putter based on its style, its weight, its look, or its technology. The putter you choose is completely up to you and your personal style.
There are a variety of guidelines that can assist you in purchasing a putter. The basic types of putters are as follows:
Putter blades:
Putter blades are generally narrow and flat. On the market today, there are several putters that are widely popular among low-to-handicap players. This is due to the enhanced feel of the putters. The blade of every putter entered more in the middle compared to other types. A blade putter provides extra weight in the heel and toe of the putter to improve forgiveness on off center hits. Blade style putters give you a thin top line to look at while you are over the ball.
Perimeter weight:
A perimeter-weighted putter design is a forgiving design. The perimeter weightied design distributes the weight around the edges of the club-head, in turn creating a larger sweet spot that helps stabilize any slight mishaps.
Mallets:
Mallets feature a large, round club-head. The weight of these mallet putters is usually balanced throughout the head for a more consistent putting stroke.
Insert:
An insert is designed with composite inserts. These insert putters offer a great feel on the putt, as well as a highly a smooth roll.

Scotty Cameron is probably the putter that is most consistently named as an answer to this question right now. Lots of tour players playing them this year. A couple other hot names are Odyssey and White Hot.
That said, it really only matters what feels best to you. Drivers and putters are the two clubs that are most personal to a golfer. If you don’t feel comfortable and confident with the club in your hand, it’s not worth a dime.
See if you can find a local pro shop or sporting goods store that will let you demo their clubs, and try as many as you can! Concentrate on the weight and feel, the sound and feedback at impact, and of course how well the ball responds to your putting action.
The main differences:
Length of shaft – do you prefer a traditional length, or the longer “belly” putters?
Blade vs Mallet – most models are being produced in both a narrow blade format as well as the thicker mallet style. See which one you respond best to.

I’ve been playing Tiger Woods 09. When a character makes a bad shot, they will sometimes throw a tantrum and break their club. This happens most often with a putter.
According to the USGA Rules of Golf, an intentionally damaged club cannot be replaced during a round.
My question: If you just broke your putter during a tournament, what club out of those remaining in your bag would you use to putt?
